implemented with the financial support of XOESE, the Francophone Women’s Fund by ASFUD (Song-taaba Association of United Women and Development).

The main lessons we have learned from the implementation of this project is that a girl is much more suitable than a mother for preparing to fight gender based violence because of her status within the family unit. We realized that despite the formal instruction received by children in schools, they were not sufficiently informed about their rights. The participation of the young boys also made it possible for the participants to understand that the choice of the number of children is disputed between spouses rather than being imposed by one of the two spouses.
As an anecdote, we can cite two facts:

• Having been informed of the objectives of our training, the problem of a widow was reported to us overnight by a resident of Songpélsé. The poor widow’s child was allegedly snatched from her by her husband’s brother while he was in CM2 to go to work in the Ivory Coast;

• Because her daughter was soon to be married, a mother came to inquire to see if her child could not take part in the training in order to be better prepared to be a woman. When asked about the advice of her religious leader husband, the woman hesitated before telling us that it was at his request that she had come.
