`The 2023 Forum was held in a hybrid format: in person in Lomé (Togo) and simultaneously online on November 27, 28, 29 and 30, 2023 on the theme: “Building the Francophone Feminist Movement: Where to Start?”
The 2023 Forum was followed by more than 1,809 participants from more than 23 countries including:
- + 250 participants in person;
- + 400 participants virtually
- + 1,159 participants via replays in 9 countries
Co-constructed with several defenders and their organizations, the 2023 Forum Agenda was very ambitious, rich and dense.
The days began with plenary sessions (4) and continued with parallel sessions (47) organized by XOESE or the partner organizations participating in the Forum. These activities fostered exchanges, discussions and reflections that allowed participants and resource persons to increase their understanding of the sources of funding they receive and the reasons for the conditionalities that are sometimes imposed on them, to explore together the avenues for solutions to overcome the challenges of access to resources, and improve the donor-recipient relationship. They also made it possible to address difficult issues, to discuss taboo subjects or those simply not included in the Women’s Rights Agenda, such as the fundamental issue of holistic health and the physical and mental well-being of women defenders.
